About the Organisation
Ou client is a Federal Government Agency offers at the forefront of the Government’s digital policy agenda. The Agency is the Government’s chief digital advisor, responsible for providing strategic and policy leadership on whole-of-government and shared information and communications technology (ICT) investments and digital service delivery. It leads the development, delivery and monitoring of whole-of-government strategies, policies, and standards. 
This will be a 6 month non-ongoing role with 6 month extension (and view for permanency). 

About the position
The Content and Brand (C&B) team is responsible for overseeing all visual design, content design, content strategy, website, and social media communications across the Agency.
As a Content Designer within the C&B team, you will be working closely within the team and other project teams to create engaging and relevant content for the Agency's:
• corporate website
• intranet, and
• other communication products and platforms such as social media, and government documentation.

You’ll manage the end-to-end workflow to update old content, and create new content. This means identifying needs then planning, drafting, editing, reviewing and coordinating clearances. It also means working with stakeholders and content colleagues at key steps along the way.
As a Content Designer you will use plain English skills, digital writing and editing skills to support the agency. You will be responsible for social media activities including the creation and publishing of content to social channels, analytics, and policy materials. You will also take an active role in the content curation and publishing to Agency web and the intranet.

Roles and responsibilities
• demonstrated experience in writing in plain English and an ability to translate complex terminology into clear and engaging user focused information
• experience working with and influencing subject matter experts and key stakeholders to write content about their area of expertise while supporting the strategic goals of the organisation.
• ability to understand and meet specific user needs
• experience in content design or as an editor/writer/content specialist
• experience writing content that meets accessibility standards and SEO guidelines, with an understanding of how responsive design affects content layout and flow
• ability to identify user needs and demonstrate how content decisions support these needs
• experience working with and influencing subject matter experts and key stakeholders to write content about their area of expertise while supporting the strategic goals of the organisation
• ability to write in a specified style and tone of voice
• effectively manage competing priorities and ensuring delivery is aligned to strategic direction of the agency
• ability to provide specialist content advice for digital content and social media
• ability to create the right content within short timeframes
• experience developing engaging, relevant content and be proactive in your daily tasks
• experience working with multidisciplinary teams using agile methods.

Capabilities required:
• understanding of user experience (UX) design
• understanding of how to create accessible content using Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)
• experience using Drupal CMS or similar would be ideal
• experience in producing content for website redesign and redevelopment
• ability to map content across a website, identify potential gaps or problems and offer solutions and understanding of how to create and maintain effective IA structure as it relates to content design
• project Management skills
• experience using the Australian Style Manual
• experience or basic understanding of HTML
• ability to work in uncertain and complex environments
• promote a positive creative culture and help to build a strong reputation for the Agency
• a positive attitude toward agile project delivery within the agency and wider Whole-of-Government context.
