Job description

APS6 – Finance Officer
  • $55 - $65 Per Hour + Super
  • Canberra, City
  • Contract till August 2024 (possible extension, 6 months)
 
About the role
  • As an APS6 Finance Officer you will work within the Passports Corporate Enabling Section under limited direction and will lead a small team of APS and contractor finance staff.
 
Duties
  • Able to Prepare accurate financial reports including analysis to support APO resourcing decisions.
  • Undertake monthly meetings with Directors to ensure accuracy of YTD financial transactions and forecasts expenditure and to provide an overview of the Division’s financial position.
  • Preparation of revenue reconciliations and cash desk fee setting.
  • Action APS 6 delegated refund requests in accordance with legislation and policy.
  • Calculation and coordination of annual Passport fee increase in accordance with legislation.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of month-end processes including coordination of travel, credit card and debtors reports.
  • Monitor cash desk clearing general ledger accounts.
  • Provide supervision, support, and training to APO accounts payable, accounts receivable, and refund processing functions.
  • Ensure the team maintains complete and consistent record keeping supporting financial transactions including provision of documentation to ANAO as requested.
  • Manage capitalisation of assets and mandatory assets stocktakes.
  • Ensure procedures are created and maintained for tasks undertaken by team members.
  • Provide support and back-up to other members of the team as required.
 
Desired Experience  
  • Able to communicate effectively and establish good working relationships with the team and key
  • Demonstrates initiative, self-management, responsiveness, and personal accountability.
  • Experience in using SAP as an accounting system.
  • Experience with revenue reconciliation and cash desk functions
  • Experience providing support and training in accounts payable, accounts receivable and refund processing functions.
  • Experience working within the Australian Government financial legislation, policy, and guidelines.

  • Applicants must hold Australian citizenship and an ability to obtain and maintain an NV1/NV2 clearance and maintain a higher clearance if required.
