Job description

The Opportunity
 
We are currently seeking APS5 & APS6 Media Officers to join the team within a Federal Government Agency focused on supporting those with a disability.
 
The Roles
 
The APS5 Media Officer will have a considerable level of contact with internal and external stakeholders and will be required to communicate with and provide advice on a range of matters to resolve moderately complex to complex enquiries.
 
The APS6 Media Officer will help inform and build support for the NDIS and the NDIA. The role will work with internal and external stakeholders to support the delivery of a range of media solutions and opportunities for the NDIS, and be responsible for developing media and other communications products to support the Agency’s work.

The position will provide detailed technical, professional, policy, operational support and advice in relation to complex problems. It may be required to coordinate and assist in the strategic planning, program and project management and policy development that support our clients objectives.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:  
  • Managing relationships and developing strong networks and positive connections with internal and external stakeholders, including but not limited to journalists, service providers, Local Area Coordinators (LACs), and client Partners.
  • Producing media and other communications products, including media releases and talking points.
  • Providing support for reporting, analytics and executive reporting and presentations.
  • Seeking opportunities to promote the Scheme focusing on individual participant stories with positive outcomes as a result of their supports.
  • Producing media and other communications products, including media releases and talking points.
  • Developing media plans to support NDIA announcements and media opportunities.
  • Supporting in monitoring and identifying potential media risks.
  • Managing and responding to media enquiries.
  • Supporting the delivery of media engagement and public relations activities.
  • Undertaking a wide variety of general tasks as required, including but not limited to managing inbox enquiries, organising photo shoots and providing content to varied internal stakeholders.
 
About You
 
To be successful in this role you will ideally have proven experience in a similar role, ideally within a Government or Disability setting.
In addition, you will demonstrate the following skills and experience:
  • Advanced MS Office Suite skills and a range of other packages such as Canva & Adobe Photoshop
  • Media/marketing experience (minimum of 3 years)
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational skills
 
It is highly desirable that applicants have an understanding of or lived experience in the field of disability.
