Job description

We are seeking experienced Case Managers and Leaders to join the Administrative Appeals Branch within a Federal Government Agency based in either Geelong or Melbourne. These opportunities can be APS5 or APS6 equivalent, paying between $53.63 and $58.50 per hour plus super.

The Role


The Case Management Officers will be responsible for preparing assessing and instructing in cases filed in the Administrative Appeals Tribunal. The roles play an integral part of the Early Resolution Model, designed to improve the experience of the departments’ participants. The role involves preparing and attending Case Conferences, Conciliation Conferences and Hearings, as well as providing timely and clear instructions to internal and external lawyers representing the federal government department.
 
Responsibilities

The APS5/6 Case Management position will be responsible for a range of activities, including:
  • Effectively managing end to end case management activities within a high volume and broad complex environment
  • Demonstrate sound judgement, high level independence, and problem-solving skills.
  • Resolving matters through case management of AAT applications in relation to reviewable decisions.
  • Being accountable for effectively organising and managing high volume of cases covering a diverse range of complex issue.
  • Obtaining necessary information and advice to effectively resolve AAT matters
  • Apply alternative dispute resolution methods and advocacy skills to resolve applications and reviews.
  • Prepare documentation required for resolution options, outcomes, and case management meetings.
  • Utilise strong interpersonal, liaison, and negotiation skills, directly liaising with AAT applicants and their representatives
  • Prepare and maintain database software, including evidence supporting the decision-making process and justifications of conclusions reached during the case management process.
The APS5/6 Case Manager will also provide support to the management of the team, provide strategic direction, delivering on the operational requirements to team members.

About You

  • Qualifications in law or related discipline will be reviewed favourably
  • Previous experience within a similar role
  • Demonstrate the ability to deliver outcomes and manage workloads to meet timeframes
  • Demonstrate the ability to make sound judgements and develop options to solve problems
  • Strong communication and relationship skills including;
  • Ability to prepare documents, such as those that explain a position under legislation
  • Ability to listen and communicate clearly and effectively
