Contract duration:18 months with possible extension.
Commencement: September 2025
Location: Fremantle, WA.
Hours per week: Monday to Friday - 40 hours per week.
Hourly rate : $105 per hour + super. Temporary casual contract (no leave entitlements – casual loading included in rate)

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Design Manager to lead the design delivery and change management for an Upgrade Project. This role is pivotal to the transformation of the Victoria Quay precinct, enhancing visitor experiences to Rottnest Island and revitalizing a key maritime infrastructure asset.
Reporting directly to the Civil Engineering Manager, this project-based role will oversee the design phase and support the transition into asset management, ensuring compliance with our clients Project Management Framework.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead engagement with internal subject matter experts and manage third-party design consultants.
  • Oversee design and asset transition activities aligned with the approved business case.
  • Provide technical assurance to ensure compliance with legislation, safety, and national standards.
  • Supervise site investigations and manage technical interfaces throughout the design lifecycle.
  • Coordinate planning, heritage, and building compliance approvals.
  • Ensure timely delivery of design milestones and manage RFI responses and NCR dispositions.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Minimum 10 years in building or public transport works design management.
  • Proven experience in engineering services delivery and project management.
  • Chartered Engineer or eligible for registration.
  • Working towards WA building services registration (Structural/Fire Safety by July 2026; Civil/Mechanical by July 2027).
  • Expertise in brownfield operational environments and fit-for-purpose solutions.
  • Skilled in tender scope development and stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of statutory requirements, engineering standards, and industry best practices.
Pre – employment requirements:
  • Current National Police Clearance (dated 3 months or less).
