The Opportunity 

On behalf of a large federal government agency based in Geelong, we are looking for a Finance Officer to join the Finance team on a 12 month assignment. This role will work Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week, paying $60.26 per hour plus super with hybrid working arrangements in place. 

The role includes processing month end journals including supplier and workforce accruals, reviewing workforce allocations to ensure they are accurately reflected, allocating project codes to track various project expenditure, variance analysis of high volume data to provide commentary, month end report preparation and working closely to the Assistant Director and stakeholders to deliver on ad hoc requests.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
  • Analysing and interpreting statistical reports to assist with the development of work plans and strategic planning.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to resolve issues and ensure effective and timely implementation of projects.
  • Coordinating and providing cost estimates for all internal and external requests for changes to systems.
  • Developing correspondence for stakeholders, such as financial reports, corporate documentation and responses to ministerial submissions.
  • Managing quality assurance activities and outcomes including the use of integrity/error reporting and the coordination of quality audits.
  • Undertaking detailed financial analysis of branch/division’s variance to budget and forecast.
  • Undertaking financial administration and across the division’s cost centres and projects, including budgets, monitoring, forecasting and accruals.
To be considered for this role you will demonstrate; 
  • Previous experience within a similar role
  • Microsoft Excel skills that will support you working with large volumes of financial data.
  • Attention to detail to ensure journals accurately reflect actuals.
  • Analysis skills to provide quality variance commentary
