DFP Recruitment has partnered with a large community focused federal department to source an experienced ObjectStar Database Administrator who will be working closely with an established team managing the migration and decommissioning of ObjectStar databases.
They will apply innovative analysis techniques and help to model results and scenarios, whilst maintaining the integrity of the system. ObjectStar Database Administrators are proficient in the ObjectStar environment, experienced in COBOL, JCL, VSAM and knowledgeable in CICS and DB2.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the migration of data from ObjectStar Table Data Store (TDS) to DB2(z/OS). This migration may include duties in the following: Migration of ObjectStar TDS to DB2(z/OS).
  • Create table definitions in DB2 (z/OS).
  • Creation of alias of ObjectStar to new DB2 tables.
  • Usage of FORALL INSERTS to copy data to new datastore Analysis, modification and recompiling of existing COBOL modules.
  • Remap existing IMS mapped tables into the DB2 mapped gateway (IM2 Gateway).
  • Solve complex data migration problems and deliver high quality outcomes.
 
Essential Skills:
  • Strong experience in ObjectStar database environment.
  • Extensive experience in COBOL, JCL and VSAM.
  • Experience in the DB2 database and Db2 tools (Recovery expert, clone tool etc.).
  • Experience with z/OS interfaces (ISPF and REXX).
  • Understanding of z/OS software installation methodologies (SMP/E etc.).
