Our State Government client is looking for a Fire Safety Technical Specialist (Project Manager) to join the Fire Safety Maintenance team. You’ll play a crucial role in ensuring that fire safety systems in social housing properties are compliant, safe, and meet required standards. Your expertise will be key in inspections, audits, stakeholder engagement, and technical compliance with AS 1851, BCA, and relevant legislation. This is a temporary contract role until 30 June 2026, with an ASAP start, flexible/hybrid work arrangements, and travelling to sites across NSW.

Key responsibilities
- Conduct site and desktop inspections of fire safety systems and maintenance
- Provide expert advice on fire safety issues, standards, BCA/NCC compliance, and upgrades
- Manage fire safety orders, FRNSW complaints, and related compliance matters
- Carry out risk-based quality assurance audits and report findings
- Liaise with councils, FRNSW, contractors, engineers, and internal stakeholders
- Stay up to date with changes in fire safety standards and legislation
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
- Tertiary qualification in Engineering (Mechanical or Civil/Structural) OR Fire Safety accreditation
- Solid knowledge of AS 1851, BCA/NCC, Australian Standards, and fire safety legislation
- Experience with Class 2 buildings and understanding of fire safety performance
- Excellent communication skills to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders
- A valid driver's license and willingness to travel across NSW
- Ability to pass a national police check

- Competitive hourly rate: between $48–$72/hour, depending on experience level
- Flexible and hybrid work arrangements, office based in Parramatta
- Contract security through June 2026
