About the role
The Project Managers are responsible for managing one of the key projects and/or components for the Agency as well as multiple technical activities/sub-projects, including those with cross-functional and cross-agency teams.
 
The successful candidates will be responsible for the overall performance from a financial, technical, risk, schedule, contractual, and customer satisfaction perspective. These positions operate in a fast-paced environment and must provide clear leadership, coordination, technical oversight, and management of the project to deliver successful solutions and navigate interdependencies in a matrixed environment.
Skills and Experience
Mandatory
  • At least five (5) years' experience in a Project or Program Manager role.
  • At least 5 years’ project management experience in a scientific organisation and/or government
  • Experience in providing risk management advice.
  • Experience working within multi-disciplinary and inter-agency teams with exceptional stakeholder influence skills.
  • Demonstrated achievement of project delivery, managing scope, budget, schedule and expectations in projects valued at more than $2m.
  • Experience in the preparation of tenders and proposals and the negotiation in relation to the contract.
  • Be an effective communicator. Ability to engage, influence, manage conflict, and facilitate outcomes that are in the interest of the Program.
  • Active Australian Government Baseline (or greater) security clearance.
Desirable
  • Experience working on space/satellite and/or Defence acquisition projects is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of the Commonwealth Procurement Guidelines and processes
  • Experience delivering projects in the Commonwealth government
