Senior (Town) Planning Officer

Our government client is seeking a Senior Planning Officer for a 12-month temporary assignment.
 
SELECTION CRITERIA
ESSENTIAL
  1. A degree qualification in Urban and Regional Planning or an approved equivalent qualification.
  2. Substantial experience in urban and regional planning and environmental management.
  3. Conceptual and analytical ability, including the ability to critically analyse information and concepts and communicate recommendations to others; and the ability to develop practical and innovative solutions to complex environmental management problems.
  4. Excellent written communication skills including demonstrated skills in technical and other report writing, and the ability to proof documents and edit the work of others.
  5. Highly developed oral communication, conflict resolution, negotiation and interpersonal skills and an ability to work in a team environment, lead a work team and mentor others. The following essential criteria will be assessed at some stage during the selection process.
 
DESIRABLE
  1. A high-level knowledge of or the demonstrated ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of and ability to apply relevant legislation, policies and practices to the protection and management of public amenity and environmental values.
  2. Demonstrated ability to carry out research and analysis, and apply the results to the development of policy relevant to the Department’s and functions and objectives.
  3. Current Driver’s Licence.
  4. An understanding of occupational safety and health; and equity and diversity principles and practices.
