Senior Satellite Comms Engineering
 
Contract duration - 12-month contract with potential extension
Location of work - ACT
Working arrangements - Onsite
Security Clearance - Active NV2 clearance required
 
DFP Recruitment is currently looking for a skilled Senior Satellite Communications Engineer to support a Federal Government client. The position focuses on the design, deployment, and ongoing support of satellite communication systems, covering both established GEO platforms and next-generation NGSO technologies.
 
Role responsibilities
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in satellite communications engineering, including both GEO and NGSO environments.
  • Solid knowledge of RF and microwave systems, encompassing design, testing, troubleshooting, and optimisation activities.
  • Experience in designing and delivering high-availability WAN services, including satellite-based solutions that provide robust and resilient connectivity across remote and distributed sites.
  • Capability to develop clear and comprehensive technical documentation, such as high-level design documents and maintenance strategies.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively within cross-functional and geographically dispersed teams.
  • Preparedness to travel frequently to Posts and remote locations to support deployment, maintenance, and operational requirements.
 Skills
  • Background in supporting satellite communications initiatives within government or defence environments.
  • Ability to mentor junior engineers or provide technical leadership to field support teams.
