The Opportunity

This role sits in the Service Guidance and Practice Branch, which is responsible for presenting Federal Government’s policy, improvements and system enhancements in clear operational guidelines. This guidance enables front line staff to make consistent decisions and clients to have choice and control over their lives.
 
The branch also develops content for clients and external stakeholders to support their guidelines, including letters, forms, factsheets and guides to what the Agency does and does not fund.
 
On behalf of our client, we are looking for a Guidance Officer (content Writer) to assist in interpreting complex information and write in plain English. In this diverse and busy role, a key component is to write standard operating procedures for ICT systems and step by step system instructions and operational guidelines.
 
This is a 12-month assignment, working Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week with a payrate of $55.24 per hour plus super. This role is based in the Adelaide CBD although some work from home may be available. You must hold Australian Citizenship at the time of applying.  

Responsibilities include but are not limited to; 
  • Research, draft and update internal and external guidance documentation ensuring that they meet the plain English and accessibility standards
  • Interpret the policy and legislative environment and translate the Act and Rules into guidance material 
  • Develop or update guidance material in response to stakeholder feedback
  • Understand the key stages and technical processes within the business systems to understand requirements
  • Provide service delivery knowledge and advice about procedural guidance, practice implementation and operational matters 
  • Manage multiple priorities while maintaining high work standards, governance protocols and accuracy meeting deadlines 

To be considered you will demonstrate; 
  • Experience within a similar role  - communications & writing background
  • Experience in writing SOPs for ICT systems
  • Ability to quickly build knowledge of business and system processes 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to translate complex information into clear, easy to use materials
  • Experience with managing internal and external stakeholder contact
  • Ability to adapt and adjust in a changing environment 
  • Positive contemporary attitude to people with a disability
  • Strong MS Office skills 
  • Desirable: understanding and awareness of the clients journey within the NDIA framework
